Are You Stuck With Bad Gear and Spec Decisions? We’re Here to Help

MassiveBlips: vote it up!

That’s right folks.  We can help you.  We know you probably leveled up to 80 in an era where Hunters have lost some focus, some old time bloggers have faded away or just focus on what you should have, but none ever try to show you a path to help you recover from your previous bad decisions and quickly make up for it.

We’ll maybe we can offer you some help.

Here’s the part where your gonna ask.. “What is it gonna cost me?” And that my friend is the down side. It’s gonna cost you some time and gold.  Yep.. that can’t be helped.  Sorry..  But look on the bright side. You got all those dailies to help you earn it back, AND once your done, you’ll never have to look back again.

First thing is spec..

Now I’ll admit to you I”m not the absolute best at determining the right spec. And many of you out there will be happy to point out that what ever spec choice I mention here is wrong.  So I’ll do one better.

Instead of searching through tons and tons of Elitist Jerks posts to try and find the “Perfect” spec, why not find one that fits your style but helps you increase your DPS at the same time?  Here’s why I suggest TalentChic.  No I’m not just shilling their site, honestly, it’s a good solid spot to see where a majority of players are doing.  Also, it helps by showing you ahead of time where to potentially place talents.

Now, after you find a spec, it’s time to ask some questions about the synergy.  Where can you do that? Well you have a couple of options.  The first will cost you lots of gold but does help you learn talents a bit better, Dual Spec.  But if your like me? That’s not really an option. But hey. some people have plenty of spare.

The next option is to take your spec choices and head to a friendly forum like *cough* the Lodge Forums or many of the others out there like The Hunter’s Mark Forums or Drotara’s Less QQ, More PewPew Forums.  But right your question clearly.  Not just “HEY! What’s the best dps spec?”  Instead ask, “I’m thinking of xx/xx/xx spec, but was wondering what potential gear/playstyle changes I might expect to make.” see the difference?  The later is more informed.

Now. you got to fix those enchants.  The lesson here? Well, just remember to keep focusing on the basics.  Focus on Agility, Attack Power, Crit. These should be your primary.  The order may shift slightly, but from what I’ve seen? Not much it’s always Agi > AP > Crit.  And when your thinking should I go AP > Agi? I’d go with the 2:1 ratio.  If the AP gem will give you 2:1 AP then consider it. But always remember you’ll be giving up something.  And if you need to know what your giving up, check out this easy Hunter Class Mechanics Guide. It’ll give yout the stat conversions.

(edit) Recently Pike over at Aspect of the Hare did a great post on the whole AP>Agi thing for BM Hunters.. Seems I may need to rethink this strategy.  But so you BM Hunters.. I’d go with AP>Agi it seems (it’ll be interesting to see other changes in viewpoints. And don’t let it be said Brig doesn’t listen. :P )

Now gearing up.. Hmm. this might be tougher. Everyone asks “What gear should I get next and where can I find it?”  Again I’ll point out that you can go ask these on the forums and you’ll get everyone’s suggestions and ultimately they’ll be right.  Or go check out Chardev.org or Loot Rank both are great resources to look at gear and help get a gear plan for yourself.

As for in-game? Well you really can’t beat Recount Rating Buster.  It’s probably the best on the spot gear comparison add-on I’ve found.

So.. I think if you look at these sites and guides, you’ll notice a pretty good increase in your dps, and a way to help change your gear around.  So let me know how this worked for you! :)
