Blizzard is against taming Humanoids
I’ll be the first to admit that I knew Blizzard wouldn’t let the whole taming a Worgen thing last for long.
And yep, I also knew I wouldn’t ever have a chance to go get it before they took it away.
It was made even more apparent in the Official General Forums when Crepe (should be Creep imo, but that sounds a bit like Grau) first said he thought it would be removed. Then we see Zarhym announcing that they were already working on the hotfix.
But what got my goat was how they fixed it. If you didn’t read about it over on WoW.com or at Mania’s Arcania here’s what happened.
They basically removed the pet from having any viable actions in the game. Zarhym put it this way (post).
The worgen should not technically belong to any of the pet families and was therefore removed. This means the pet no longer has access to pet talents or abilities. Whether or not similar circumstances with hunter pets in the past have occurred isn’t really relevant. Given the nature of the creature that was tamed in this case, we feel it should not belong to any of the eligible pet families from which a hunter can choose his or her combat companion.
Now what does that mean exactly?
Well, basically it means you can’t do anything with your favorite Worgen.
- You can’t tame him if you haven’t gotten him yet.
- You can’t feed him.
- Forget giving him talents.
- Forget buffing him.
- Forget getting a furious howl buff
- No more cool names. (I gues I’m not a Worgen anymore… /sniff)
Basically? He can run around with you and fight with you and last a whole 10 seconds probably.
Using the word “removed” doesn’t inspire confidence that you will be able to keep your pet either. And at this point do you really want to?
Zahrym went on to try and defend the unfairness of this action by saying that it really wasn’t fair that some were able to tame Garwal and others never would have the opportunity. But isn’t that one of the things we Hunters are clamoring about? That Blizzard has taken away a lot of the specialness from the classes?
Like I said, I knew going into this that I would never have the chance to get my own Worgen. I’d just sit there and drool just like I do when I see someone with a Ghostwolf running around. But to now basically reduce this pet to vanity status, and possibly remove it from the game completely just seems to be a overboard to me.
What do you think? Should Blizzard just leave these bugs in the game since they don’t really hurt anyone? What’s your feeling on the severity of the changes? Should they remove him? And if they do remove him, what if any compensation should be given to the Hunter’s that tamed him?
Shout it out here, I want to know what you think.
