Hunter Profession Choices

Gonna run a breakdown of all the Crafting Professions. Obviously, gathering professions will make the most money, and if you craft, then pick up the matching gathering profession.

LEATHERWORKING:

Probably your best bet unless you’re a Survival hunter. The Ebon Netherscale Set will last you into SSC/TK, and you can get it relatively faster than dropped gear. (No waiting on drop rates, no getting out-rolled). Remember to choose the Dragonscale speciality when you hit 225.

You also get to make Drums, which provide a nice variety of group buffs, and you can make your own Leg Armor Kits. You won’t make a lot of money with it, but the leg armor kits can go for a good amount, especially the Epics that require a nether.

There’s also several BOE Epic patterns that Drop in SSC, TK, MH and BT that can make you some decent money later on in the game.

There’s also several new patterns that are coming in 2.4 that make some nice gear (available at the Sunwell area)

ENGINEERING:

This is also not a bad choice for Hunters. The benefits are the Epic Goggles that you can make at 375, as well as the ability to craft your own 43 DPS bullets and arrows, Repair Bots, and Jumper Cables. The Cables in particular can be very nice. FD + Cable the Healer = Love for the Hunter.

ALCHEMY:

Again, not a bad choice, though LW and Eng are arguably more rewarding. Though the ability to make your own potions, Flasks and Elixirs can save you quite a bit of money in the long run.

ENCHANTING:

While not a bad choice for Hunters, probably not the best. If you really want to be an enchanter, I suggest leveling another crafting profession to 375, then replace your gathering with enchanting. Enchanting lets you make your own Mana Oils, allows you to DE and Enchant your own gear without hunting someone down, but over all, you can benefit far more from another profession.

BLACKSMITHING:

Not a good choice. While you can make yourself some good weapons with decent hunter stats at end-game, the reward is too little for this profession to be worth it.

TAILORING:

Um… there’s Bags… and nets… and… um… Let’s just put this one down as useless, shall we?

This is an important choice for any hunter. To help you decide you can check out The Crafter’s Tome.

  1. Just thought I would point out; I think the goggles might be the wrong goggles! =)

  2. I agree with Pike i am a Level 69 Orc Hunter BM Spec and an Engineer. The goggles you get to make are the Sure Strike Goggles Version 2. When you hit 350 Engineering. And these goggles that you link are Plate last time i checked my Hunter could not wear Plate.

  3. Blame Brig, he linked the items :P I’ll see about getting it edited though. Thanks for pointing this out.
